Virus Symptoms Medicines

Seems like doctors 's weapons against common viruses are too small and poor. We are expecting just a small number of medicines take the control of millions of virus. Two different virus might create same symptoms. Almost same symptoms get same medicine against different virus. Can you imagine a civilization that uses only 2,3 or 5 tools to get his work done? Is that civilization a baby one or a Grand one? Should we create more medicines against virus or should we delete "chemical" medicines for ever? Solution or death?
